Dev Log # 36


This week I was able to spend a few days rebuilding the crafting system. The previous system was very quick and dirty, just a generic "crafting material" and a few placeholder projects, but I've had plans to expand on it ever since I added it.

The new system has several types of crafting material and different projects will need different amounts of each material. Some of the materials will be easy to find, others will be quite rare, and the spread of resources will change in different locations. Titania has plenty of junk like twigs and thread lying around that can be used in projects but you might need to check Girlzilla's room for chemical ingredients.

The existing crafting projects have all been updated to use the new system and once I know those are working I'll start adding new craftable items to expand the gameplay even further. Some of these new items will be tools that give different paths in events, others will provided permanent status effects to tweak your gameplay. I've also added a framework for food and drink that will work in the same way and tie into the cooking mechanic I added recently. Eventually you'll be able to craft specific meals that will give temporary effects but I want to make sure the new resource and crafting system works before duplicating it for cooking.

Next week my focus will be adding at least one event per each resource type in each location. These events will be quite short but will make the world feel even bigger (pun intended).
