Dev Log # 34


I've been having some headaches with the continuation of Girlzilla's story but the knots seem to be coming untied now!

The way I've built the game each character is managed by their room so that I can have most functions be generic, but for Girlzilla's story I had to find a way for two locations to work off the same data. You end up still living in her room but in an entirely different way and that means being able to move smoothly between the two locations in the same room while keeping everything consistent. Working out which location manages which bit of data has been confusing but I think the worst is done!

The new character isn't in place yet because her storyline involves similarly blended locations and I wanted to use Girlzilla's room as a test case to make sure everything worked. I still need to get some draft art for Girlzilla's new events before releasing the June test build but after that all my time will go to setting up the new character.

Once she's in place (and given a name) I want to revisit NPCs and clean up some of the quick hacks I used to get them working but that shouldn't take long. After that materials and crafting need quite a bit of work. That's vital for the main story and there's several events that are still just drafts (such as Titania's bed) while waiting for crafting to be extended.

After NPCs and crafting I think most of the core game functions will be complete! I'll need to go through all my notes to be sure but if I'm right then I can turn my focus entirely to story and art. I have the main story already drafted and several more characters planned, plus events with the existing characters that need to be completed. The stuff on Titania's bed in particular has been on hold for a really long time and it'll be great to get that done!
