Dev Log # 30

More decent progress this week! The 'chat' events with Diana and Emily are mostly complete. Chat events are where the NPC is part of your team and you run into them while exploring Titania's room . These small moments will play out differently depending on Titania's current activities, your relationship with the NPC, and the choices you make while chatting with them. They add a lot more interest to exploring and give some more insight into your fellow tinies. You'll also be able to improve your relationship if you make the right choices (and harm it if you make the wrong choices!)

My next task are the events when you interact with an NPC at camp. There are placeholder versions of these already that roughly explain what will happen, and they only occur as your relationship with the NPC improves. These are more linear than the chat events and will always play out in order. Even so, I expect them to be more of a challenge since they'll be longer and much more character focussed. You've probably already seen the early events with each NPC, which are quite short, but later events will get longer and longer and give you more chance to ask and answer questions. The 'right' choices may not be obvious, and in some cases there may not even be a good option and you'll need to do some extra work to rebuild your trust in each other...

Apart from all that, I also need to get some placeholder art for the chat events I finished this week. My rough count is 30 pictures, which shouldn't be hard to finish, but every new piece of art makes me more nervous about version 0.7 where I'll be standardising the art style. Right now there are almost 750 pieces of art in the game, not including shared UI elements like buttons, and updates 0.5 and 0.6 will add at least 250 more each! When I started this project I expected to be doing a lot of drawing but I never knew the numbers could get that high.
