Dev Log # 27


Had a pretty busy week so I wasn't able to work on the game much. Mostly I just updated the visuals for the craft area in Titania's room and started prepping to replace text menus with image buttons (like the sleeping area).

The visual menu for the craft area will be very simple, the exploration one a little more complicated because each room is a little different, but the biggest one will be the center of your camp. Right now it's the largest menu by far since I just keep adding things there if I'm not sure where else to put them. Some of those options (like debug settings) will be easy to move elsewhere but others I'm still debating. Should eating happen in the center of your camp or be moved to the room where you prep food and store supplies? I don't want the screen to be cluttered so I may have to just try a few options and see what works.

This week has slowed up my progress a bit but the finish line for the UI update is close! The really complicated game logic stuff seems to be working and what's left is mostly visual changes and polish. Right now it feels like I'll need one more test build just to be sure everything is stable. If that testing goes as well as I'm hoping then I'll also be able to replace some of the placeholder events with real content before the public release. If it goes really REALLY well then I'd like to replace some of the placeholder art, just to keep my drawing hand in!
